Jason Acevedo served ten years in uniform—four on active duty as a tanker, and six in the reserves.
On the civilian side he spent five years in management. He wanted to treat his people better—to learn how to lead them, and how to build systems that actually worked—so he earned a degree in business administration and human resource management at Golden Gate University while he was managing. A manager, a student, and a human resources specialist in the reserves, all at the same time. Three versions of the same work.
What he learned is that when you put people first, everything else falls into place. He worked for three major corporations. At the last one he became a part owner, after growing a single location’s sales by about $400,000 in three months.
And his life belonged to the company.
My wife was pregnant. I had a teenager at home. I wasn’t there for either of them, and I knew it.
So he started seeking the Lord. In scripture he found that we were made in His image and given dominion over everything in this land—and that nothing was ever meant to have dominion over us.
God wanted dominion over my life. The business had taken it.
He quit. He walked away from the partnership and started his Master of Divinity at Moody Theological Seminary, in ministry leadership—the pastoral calling he had been running from for years. He changed his job in the reserves too, from human resources specialist to chaplain’s assistant. Armor, then people, then souls. The uniform turned every time his life did.
He went a year without work. God provided. In that year he started helping business owners he knew personally—processes, procedures, operations, systems, POS, marketing, everything he had learned in the corporate world. Family businesses that were stuck started to grow.
That’s when it became clear the calling wasn’t only pastoral.
I’m here to help owners have dominion over their business, the way God intended—not the other way around. I believe every person who sits down across from me is there on purpose.
